Div tag is for logical sections, you can format your layouts, you can put your validation on special criteria, it is used create and modify website control layouts, so, it is one kind of HTML language tag.

Div tag is used to define a logical partition. The labels can be grouped if large partition and format it with CSS. Now mostly used DIV with CSS styles to create HTML pages. Div tags are the best alternative for tables to create patterns.
