best method to create realistic clouds?

I wanna create a realistic cloud effect in photoshop. i know of setting the foreground and background color and then going to filter/render/clouds. But i want something more realistic. HELP! Plzz

well. you can try the following method:

The best size settings for these type of clouds is 6"x4" at 150 dpi.

1. Set your foreground color to black & background color to white.
2. Background layer: filter/render/clouds.
3. Create a new layer: filter/render/difference clouds.
4. Set this new layer to color burn.
5. Create a new adjustment layer with a gradient of blue to white.
6. Beneath this layer create another layer and fill with a gradient blend of blue to white.
7. Set this layer to screen blending mode at about 70% opacity.

and now, you should have a quite realistic looking cloud effect!

I tried doing what you said, but got stuck on the 3rd step. i.e.
"Create a new layer: filter/render/difference clouds."

when I create a new layer and then go to difference clouds, i get the following error:

Could not complete the Difference Clouds command because the selected area is empty

what do i do?

You can use a big size brush and paint it off...then use a heavy gaussian blur..chk out the screenshot below

Just duplicate your background layer and then go to filter/render/difference clouds.
