RE: Why using 72 dpi for web graphics in photoshop??
there is actually no use using a dpi measurement if u r creating images for web :O .. dpi is the setting for printers...to print how many dots per linear inch of a paper...
for web we just use the resolution (ex: 640x480) whatever the dpi may be ... for print we use the dimension of the printable area(say for an A4 size paper it 8.27x11.69 inches) and dpi usually 300(if we give more dpi the print will be more clear and vice versa) note: for an a4 size with 300 dpi the pixel dimensions will be 2480x3508, if it's a 200 dpi image, 1653x2339 and for 72 dpi 595x842... but all these will print the full size of an a4 size paper... and in your monitor it displays as different sizes Wink |
