Firefox has a lot of add ons which helps in development and debugging. Probably that could be one of the reasons why people like Firefox

Firefox is preferred for the following reasons:

• Firefox loads web pages much faster than Intenet Explorer
  

• More viruses are detected on Internet Explorer than Firefox.
  

• Users experience fewer problems using Firefox than with IE.
  

• Since Firefox is Open Source,new features are added much quicker than IE.

There are many merits of firefox and very few demerits of the browser. The only problem in firefox is its bit slower. I felt it when i started using Google chrome, Google Chrome is faster then any other browser. Sometime Firefox also gives a problem, some time its too slow and takes about a minute to open a single website.
