This tutorial leads you through how to create a ring of fire. Readers of this tutorial should have a basic understanding Maya toolbox and menus.

To create a ring fire using Autodesk Maya, first you need to create a circle from CREATE > NURBS PRIMITIVES > CIRCLE. Under the dynamics section, go to particle menu and emit from object. Next, under the emitter tab, change type to curve. Then change the particles rate to 273.504. After that, make the direction Y value .427 and direction X & Z value 0. Now give a speed of value .342. Next, give a Tangent speed of value 5.043. and a Normal speed of .513.

Figure 1.

Under particle shape tab change the lifespan mode to random range. Then change the Lifespan value to 5 and the Lifespan random to 1.

Figure 2.

Add a turbulence to the particles with a magnitude of 28 and a frequency of 5.9.

Under the Render attributes change the Render type to multi streak And tick 'Color Accum' Check box. Multi count’s value should be 12 and Multi radius should be 1.11.The Tail size should be 9.4.

Under per particle attribute add a opacity ramp as shown below
